Dwelling Fire - Porreca Drive
May 2, 1:06 AM - 20 Firefighters and 6 fire apparatus responded to a dwelling fire at 36 Porreca Drive.  Upon arrival MFD encountered heavy fire at the rear of the attached garage. 
 Firefighters used two 2" hand lines to extinguish the flames.  The roof had to be ventilated in three places due to fire getting into the loft of the house.  This necessitated extensive overhauling of the ceiling.
 
     
 



 

Long time member receives 25th anniversary ring
Career Firefighter Dave Smith is seen here receiving his 25th Anniversary ring in recognition of his many years of service to the Fire Department and the citizens of Millville.



 

Air show warms up
June 23 - Even though the crowds are still a day away the Millville Fire Department is stationed at the air port as the planes and jets of the Millville Air Show make their practice runs.

Motor Vehicle Accident 2nd & McNeal Streets
June 22 - 9:45 PM - Three MFD apparatus and 32 firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of North 2nd & McNeal Streets.

The Millville Rescue Squad requested a medivac helicopter but was later cancelled.  Apparently none of the injuries was serious enough to require the helicopter's services.

Vehicle overturns on Burns Road
June 06 - An SUV attempted to turn onto Burns Rd. from East Main St. and lost control of the vehicle.  The vehicle swerved sideways and overturned and landed on its roof.
The driver was not injured.   MFD spread stay dry on oil that was leaking from the engine.

Motor Vehicle Accident - 4th & Main Streets
June 6 - Three people were injured in a motor vehicle accident at 4th & Main Streets.   A sedan traveling south on 4th street failed to stop at the intersection and was hit by a pickup truck that was traveling on East on Main Street.
The fire department stood by while the Rescue squad performed a "door pop" on the sedan using a hydraulic tools commonly known as the "Jaws of Life"

Fully involved Car Fire
June 7 - Company Photographer Dale Wettstein shared these two pictures showing before and after shots of a fully involved car fire.
   
All that is left is the clean up and paperwork.

Motor Vehicle Accident - Silver Run Road
May 24, 2:23 AM - A vehicle traveling southbound when it went off the road and struck a tree on the left front.  The vehicle continued on about another 50 feet and came to rest in the northbound lane of Silver Run Rd..
 
The driver was alone and appeared to only receive minor injuries.  He stated that he wasn't driving, so there was a check of the wooded area around the scene.  Pictured below, left, Career FF John Wettstein uses the Thermal Imaging Camera to search for victims in the dark.   No other person was located in the area.

Helicopter Standby for injured child
May 23, 4:12 PM -  MFD was called upon to control the landing Zone for a Medivac Helicopter landing on the ball field at Wheaton Avenue and Coombs Road.

A child had been injured when struck by a motor vehicle.  The injury occurred when the child apparently ran in front a motor vehicle at the intersection of Third and Broad Streets. 

Responding to the call was Engines 30 and 36, Deputy Chief 32 with a total of 15 personnel.
