5 Millville Firefighters honored as
"Firefighter of The Year"

Cumberland County Firefighter's Association named "The Crew of Engine 30" as co-recipients of the "Firefighter of The Year" award for saving two lives during a house fire. Firefighters P. Curt Lowe, Terry Fawcett, Doug Inferrera Jr., Keith Mitchell and Lt. Ric Tucker received their award at the CCFA's annual dinner.

On June 15, 2003 (Father's Day) 03:35 hours the Millville Fire Department responded to a reported dwelling fire with people trapped at 711 N. Second St.  Upon arrival the crew of Engine 30 encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the dwelling with a mother and her baby trapped on the second floor. The crew from Engine 30 placed a ground ladder on to the porch roof and removed the mother and baby to safety. This rescue was accomplished under heavy smoke and high heat conditions after forcing a window that would not open, and talking the mother and child out of the window.

Medivac Helicopter Lands on Rt. 55 After Accident

Over the course of a year Millville Fire Department responds to numerous accident scenes, often times acting as Landing Zone (LZ) Command for a medivac helicopter.

On June 12, 2004 MFD responded to an accident on State Highway 55.  The unusual nature of this call was that the major highway had to be shut down for the helicopter to land directly on the roadway.

Below are several pictures of the medivac and Landing Zone.
