Vehicle Fires
Millville Fire
Department is often called upon to extinguish vehicles on fire. At
times pry bars and hydraulic tools are used to gain access to the
compartment where the fire is located.
The following
pictures are of a Chevy "Blazer" located at Hogbin Road and
Millville Avenue which occurred on March 12, 2004.
This Ford Escort was parked in front of a house on Court
Blvd. In one picture a firefighter is putting water on the garage
door because the radiant heat from the car was starting to damage
the door. This fire also happened on March 12, 2004.
Street Sweeper - On April 1, 2004 one of
Millville's street sweepers caught fire on Howard Street. It took a
bit of doing for the fire department to gain access to the location of the
fire.
Preplanning Tour - Millville Jet Center received a
tour by the Fire Department as part of preplanning in the event MFD is
ever called to the facility. The spacious and high-tech building was
impressive.
Training, An Ongoing Process - Cumberland County
Fire Academy recently held a series of training sessions on F.A.S.T.
Concepts. F.A.S.T. stands for Firefighter Assist & Search
Team. This course taught Firefighters how to rescue a
firefighter on a fire scene or assist themselves out of a tough situation.
