On Monday
February 12, 2001 just before 6 PM a fire started inside the 200
block of High Street that went on to consume two commercial
structures. It took approximately two hours to bring the blaze
under control. Several companies including Cedarville, Gouldtown,
Mauricetown and two companies from Vineland aided the Millville Fire
Department during this emergency.
Both buildings where
torn down the day after the fire. The final determination as to the
cause of the fire has not been released at the time of publishing.

Commercial Structure- North 14th Street

On Thursday,
November 9th a major fire destroyed the Millville Child
Family Center on North 14th Street. The first alarm was
sounded at 18:13 and quickly went to two alarms. The second
alarm called for all available career Firefighters and
mutual aid responses from South Vineland, Bridgeton,
Mauricetown and Gouldtown. All responding companies joined
in the fight against the blaze with the exception of
Gouldtown which manned our fire station. Cumberland county
fire police were also on the scene. The department was
finally back in service at 23:11
