   Local Wildfires

During the past two months the city of Millville has experienced two major wildfires.  The first consumed more than 700 acres of woods and brush.  The latest blaze burned at least 70 acres.  The location of the latter fire was in the southern part of the city between Routes 47 and 55 (both State Highways.)  Route 55 had to be closed for a time as the fire was brought under control

These two fires have scorched over one and a quarter square miles of land.  The City of Millville is one of the most spacious cities in the state covering an area of 44.3 square miles.

Below are a few of the pictures we have been able to obtain during the fire near Route 55.
