Patrick Wettstein Receives Medal of Courage

On Tuesday, October 2, 2001 Chief Hess looked on as Firefighter Mike Lippincott presented Patrick Wettstein with a Medal of Courage as Firefighter, Commissioner, John Hollingshead presided.

On July 25, while fighting a house fire on Mistletoe Lane, firefighter Mike Lippincott fell into a hole in the first floor. "Patrick caught him and pulled him out," Hollingshead said.   [Mike was about to fall into the basement where the fire continued to burn]

"Heroes are ordinary people who do extraordinary things," Hollingshead said. "They do them because they care."

Fire Chief Kurt Hess congratulated Wettstein and said, "This shows the type of people we have in the Fire Department."

Pat has been a career Firefighter since late last year.  Prior to that he was a volunteer for four years.
