The award was a culmination of years of planning, fund raising and a tremendous cooperative effort of the company in addition to the outstanding craftsmanship of Lee's Equipment in Tuckerton, NJ.   Every member of the committee along with the craftsmen can take pride in a job well done.

Mill Village Apartments

Fire destroyed a multi unit apartment building at Mill Village Apartment complex on Wade Blvd. The blaze left seven families homeless. The first alarm was sounded around 5 a.m., eventually went to four alarms and finally brought under control in approximately 90 minutes.

Residents had evacuated the building safely before the Fire department arrived.   The building was a total loss. Fire companies from Gouldtown, Mauricetown and Vineland responded to Millville's mutual-aid request and joined in the battle.

Green Street Fire Claims Life of Millville Man

A pre-dawn fire claimed the life of James L. Ney that started in the second-floor living room of a duplex on West Green St.  Residents of the other half of the duplex escaped injury.  The four occupants were alerted by the police as the fire began to spread.

The first engine arrived on location around 5:55 a.m.  The crew of Engine 30 consisted of Firefighters William Norton, Terry Fawcett, Dean Inferrera and Charles Seiferman.  A second alarm went out at 6:26 a.m. The fire was extinguished by 9 a.m. A total of 27 firefighters responded to the alarms plus four members of Company Number Two of South Vineland that manned Millville fire station.

The Millville fire department is deeply saddened at the loss of Mr. Ney's life.  Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends .
