The Millville Fire Department is looking for a few,
exceptional, young adults between the ages of 14 and 21 to join our FIRE EXPLORERS post. This unique program, developed by
the Boy Scouts of
America and open to all interested young men and women who meet our
standards of academic and character achievement, allows young people to
gain firsthand knowledge about the firefighting profession by working side
by side with firefighters in a variety of activities. As part
of the program, explorers will attend regular meetings and will also
attend special training sessions that will teach them many aspects about
fire prevention, safety and firefighting activities.

In addition, explorers who successfully attend and complete required
safety training will be permitted to participate in our ride-along
program, where they will be permitted to ride department apparatus under
the supervision of a program advisor, observing and assisting firefighters
with activities at actual emergency calls. As the safety of our
explorers is of the utmost importance, explorers will not actively engage
in suppression activity, however they will assist with other vital
functions such proper care and maintenance of apparatus and equipment,
rolling and storing hose and tools, and many more functions performed by
real firefighters. In addition, explorers will assist with many
community service programs as part of our dedication to community
service.

Please note that prospective explorers who are under the age of 18 must
bring a parent or guardian who will be required to give consent in order
for you to join the program. Please contact Senior Advisor, Ian
Roberts for further information at 825-4768 or 293-7656.
We hope to see you soon.
