Tuesday, April 10, 2012 It is with deep regret that the Department announces the death of Lieutenant Robert Neary, assigned to Ladder 10, Platoon “C”.  Lieutenant Neary, a veteran with over 37 years of service, died in the line of duty Monday, April 9, 2012.

All off-duty officers and members are invited to attend the services in uniform.  Uniform of the day will be Class “A” Dress, with blouse coat and cap.

Smith http://www.millvillefire.org/?p=708 Station 30 was dispatched at 12:30 am to #23H Cumberland Green Apartments located at 24 Ladow Avenue for a report of a dryer fire with possible extension and exposure.

30-01 arrived on location with light smoke showing and began an interior attack.

30-32 arrived on location and assumed command.

30-17 arrived on location and began evacuations of the exposure apartments.

At 12:48am command struck the 2nd alarm which brought in Vineland Station 2 and Gouldtown Station 15 to the scene while Laurel Lake Station 13 covered Millville’s Station.

Additional Millville units on scene were 30-03, 30-04, 30-06, 30-16, 30-21, 30-33, and 30-34.

There were approximately 25 firefighters on location.

Millville Police, Millville Rescue Squad, The Salvation Army Canteen, and The American Red Cross were also at the scene providing assistance.

Firefighters quickly brought the situation under control and remained on location for overhaul and to provide assistance to displaced residents.

Firefighters returned to the station approximately 2.5 hours after the call went out.

There were no injuries on location.

This Tuesday, April 3rd, Firefighters John Garton & Scott Haley will be officially sworn in at the City Commission meeting.

A bond ordinance for the new apparatus is also scheduled to be introduced at the same meeting.

Members are asked to attend to show support for John, Scott and our new truck.  Please wear work uniform or other MFD clothing if possible.

 Please meet at City Council chambers at 1800 hours.
