On Jan. 26, 2013, Millville Fire Co. Sta. 30 and EMS Sq. 98, were dispatched to 106 S. 3rd St. for a reported oven fire. Engine 30-01 arrived with heavy smoke showing from the “C” side of a 2.5 story duplex. Crews reported heavy fire in the rear of the dwelling and requested the 2nd alarm struck. This brought a RIC Team from Vineland Engine 22 and Millville Paid fire fighters to the scene. Command also requested Laurel Lake Sta. 13 to cover Sta. 30. Command pulled all units out of the dwelling after a ceiling collapse. Ladder 30-16 was placed in service to knock down the heavy fire in the attic area. Crews battled heavy fire and frigid temperatures for some time before gaining control of the fire. Units remained on location for some time for extensive overhaul. Millville PD and county fm is investigating. Cumberland County Fire Police and Salvation Army Canteen Unit also assisted at the scene. Special thanks to Wayne Paollili for giving us the heads up on this call.
